Unplugging to Tune In

Greetings, Friends.
I hope this finds you and yours well. What else can we say during this supremely unusual time?
We turned off our tech over Easter weekend and just enjoyed being lo-fi. Games, listening to vinyl, and just generally being unplugged from the news of the world for 72 hours was just what the doctor ordered.

I’ve really enjoyed teaching more lessons…every Thursday for the last several months I’ve been dialing in with guitarists individually and helping them with their playing, tone, and mindset. It’s been incredibly rewarding to work with players to figure out the way forward for the next season of their music making. The best is when I’m able to give someone a transformative idea or concept, a “the lightbulb just went on and my mind is blown” moment. What a joy!

If you like my playing and music and you are ready to learn, just send me an email. I’d love to help you get where you want to go!

This week’s episode of On Looping addresses some signal chain related questions I get asked fairly often: Where do you put your looper in your signal chain, and do you have FX after the looper? I’ll show you how I use my setup to create a sonic backdrop that ties everything together, and how post-looper FX can make for big creative opportunities. Check it out!

Have any questions? Just need to reach out to someone? I’m here. Send me an email at hello@danphelps.com and let me know how you are doing.

Be well,

Dan
