One of my favorite things about my new record Arc is that it's built on and extracted from improvisations with legendary drummer Jim Keltner. There is no shortage of great recordings of Jim, but I love that I get to feature his beautiful, mysterious, extemporaneous playing on this album.
Improvisation as a form of composition is always risky, but bravery is rewarded by passages like this one from the song Modern Bunker. Roger Joseph Manning Jr. wrote the wonderful string arrangement.
