As we all step out of the setting sun of 2016 into the dawn of 2017, it feels like there should be something profound to say. I'm not sure what that is. The only things that really sound right are the simple things: Let's endeavor to personify kindness, patience, grace, generosity, justice, and equality to our fellow humans. Lead with kindness in your families, in your friendships, and to strangers. The world can be so dark and scary...can we be lights to each other? That's what I want to do.
On to things of much less gravity...please enjoy this video from last October at the Y2K16 Loopfest in Santa Cruz. I was a disheveled and anxious mess from being late and literally having only enough time to carry my gear from the car to the stage in order to set up and play my set. Regardless, it ended up being a good performance and a beautiful experience to meet so many warm-hearted and talented people. Thanks to George Wiltshire for shooting the video.
In other news, I'll be at the winter NAMM Show on January 21st, skulking around the shared Ronin Guitars and Benson Amps booth (#2994). I'll most certainly be there from 11am-12pm and 3pm-4pm...but possibly other times. Otherwise you can probably find me roving the floors trying to get Steve Vai's autograph or fill in another slot of my NAMM Bingo card. Come find me and say hello!
As for the rest of 2017...I've got a studio recording of my improvisational ambient stuff that I am really happy with that will be coming out this year, as well as several runs of shows (including the Southeast!) in the works. I'm going to be diving even further into my live textural performances and adding new dimensions to what I am capable of.
I'm also planning to do some deeper studying of the guitar...it's time to reach for the next rung up on the ladder of ability and creativity.
My new years resolution is to drink coffee. Great news: I'm doing really good at it so far. Keep me in your prayers.
